This piece feels like a melody I couldn’t sing out loud, so I let the brush carry it instead. The water bends gently between fields of gold, while the trees stand tall, their leaves burning like lanterns against a pale blue sky. It’s autumn at its most fragile — a hush before the frost arrives.

I painted this one in the quiet of an evening storm, string lights buzzing faintly as rain pressed against the windows. The sound of wind chimes slipped in between the brushstrokes, steadying my hand as I layered yellows and ochres. The paper curled slightly under the wash, leaving small ridges that caught the pigment like lyric scribbles running into the margins.
