🦋 Skybound Blooms
This piece feels like a melody I couldn’t sing out loud, so I let the brush carry it instead. Pale blue petals stretched toward the sky, and just above them, a butterfly drifted in — as if the painting itself had breathed life into the page.
I remember painting under string lights, my sleeves rolled up, the hum of wind chimes slipping through the window while rain tapped soft rhythms against the glass. The paper curled a little at the edges — thick watercolor paper with its own stubborn spirit — and the blues bled into one another like lyrics scribbled too quickly in a notebook.
There’s something tender about watching paint move on its own terms. Imperfection creeps in, and I’ve learned to welcome it. This, I think, is the heart of watercolor journaling: letting go of control until what’s left is honest. For me, these blossoms became a reminder of quiet artistry — fragile but unafraid, delicate yet steady, carrying the kind of stillness that slow living artists hold close.
When I look at it now, I think of healing through nature, of creative burnout recovery that begins not with grand gestures but with a single brushstroke, a single wing in motion. It’s a small act of art as emotional growth — soft, imperfect, and more than enough.
