✨ Weathered Wheel

Sometimes imperfection feels more honest than polish — this painting holds the quiet proof. The old wagon wheel leans into the earth, its wood worn and splintered, the iron rim rusted like the edge of an old song that’s been played too many times but still carries weight.

I remember sitting under string lights the evening this one came alive, the scent of rain drifting through an open window, my brushes clinking in their jar like wind chimes. The paper drank the pigment too quickly in some places, leaving uneven washes — stubborn textures that reminded me of lyric scribbles that don’t quite rhyme but still matter.

There’s a tenderness in painting something so ordinary, so overlooked. A wheel, no longer turning, still becomes part of the creative lifestyle, part of the story. It reminded me of emotional songwriting, how sometimes the broken chorus is the one that lingers longest.

This piece, for me, is watercolor journaling at its most grounded: a practice of quiet artistry, of letting the wheel stand in for resilience, for journeys that don’t disappear even when they pause. It’s a reminder to every slow living artist that healing through nature can come in unlikely forms — even in rust, even in decay.

When I look at it now, I think of creative burnout recovery, how we rebuild slowly, spoke by spoke, brushstroke by brushstroke. Imperfect, human, and enough. 🌿
